Calm, pain-free and fear-free — building positive associations with the dentist
A child's first dental visits shape their attitude to treatment for life. At the Mikrostomart clinic in Opole we make sure children feel safe — no rushing, no scaring and no pain. Our goal is a healthy smile for our youngest patients and calm, positive memories of the practice.
We combine a gentle approach with modern technology: the Fotona laser, which lets us treat many cavities without a drill, and computer-controlled anaesthesia. As a result, procedures are less stressful and the visit becomes a positive experience.
Our approach to the young patient
A child is not a “small adult” — they need a different pace, language and atmosphere. That is why:
Acclimatisation visit
The first visit involves no drilling — the child gets to know the office, the chair and the team, settles in and builds trust.
A child's language
We explain everything calmly and visually, without scary words. The child knows what will happen — and that reduces anxiety.
No rushing
We take our time. We never force — we build cooperation step by step, at the child's own pace.
Parent alongside
The parent is part of the process. Together we set a prevention plan and teach the child how to care for their teeth.
Prevention — the best treatment is prevention
With children we focus above all on prevention: fissure sealing (sealing the molars), fluoride varnish and fluoridation to strengthen enamel, dietary guidance and learning proper brushing technique. Regular preventive visits let us catch cavities very early — when treatment is simplest and least invasive.
Drill-free treatment — laser for children
The erbium laser (Er:YAG) can prepare many cavities without contact — without the unpleasant vibrations and the characteristic drill sound that stress children the most. It is one of the most effective ways to treat the youngest patients comfortably and calmly.
Discover laser dentistry →Baby teeth — why they are worth treating
Baby teeth are not “teeth for a moment”. They play a key role: holding space for permanent teeth and enabling proper chewing and speech development. Untreated decay in baby teeth can cause pain, infection and damage the buds of permanent teeth. That is why we treat them just as carefully as adult teeth.
Oral hygiene in the youngest children
It is worth caring for a child's teeth from the moment the first tooth appears. We teach parents and children proper brushing technique, select toothpaste with an age-appropriate fluoride content and show how to build a daily habit. We carry out hygiene appointments for children gently and in a friendly atmosphere.
Why choose us
We combine patience and empathy with modern equipment. Prevention and hygiene for our youngest patients are led by our hygienist Elżbieta Nowosielska, while treatment — using the laser and computer-controlled anaesthesia — is carried out to be as stress-free as possible. We want your child to like the dentist for years to come.
Frequently asked questions
At what age should I bring my child for the first visit?
Ideally around the age of one or once the first teeth appear — for an acclimatisation visit. The earlier, the easier it is to build positive associations and catch any problems early.
Do baby teeth need treating if they will fall out anyway?
Yes. Baby teeth hold space for permanent ones, enable chewing and speech development, and untreated decay can damage the buds of permanent teeth and cause pain.
Is laser treatment safe for a child?
Yes — the dental laser is proven technology, and it is especially valued in children because it allows many cavities to be treated without a drill, vibration and often without anaesthesia.
What is fissure sealing?
It is the painless sealing of the grooves (fissures) on the chewing surface of molars with a special resin. It creates a barrier protecting against decay in the most vulnerable spots.
Can a parent be present during the procedure?
Yes. A parent's presence usually reassures the child. We decide individually — sometimes a child cooperates better with the parent close by, sometimes when they watch from a distance.
My child is very afraid of the dentist — what should I do?
We start with an acclimatisation visit without treatment, at a calm pace. We use desensitising techniques, drill-free treatment and, if needed, inhalation sedation (nitrous oxide). Fear can be overcome.
